"The Contender"- Gary Balletto Moves Onposted by Kathleen Holland on July 25, 2006, in The Contender
The way I saw it, the first round went to Torres, but Balletto came back to take the second round. The third round was closer, and even though Balletto threw wild flailing punches, was off balance and seemed very awkward, he still did enough to win the round. The fourth went to Torres, who dominated the round, attacking Balletto with a barrage of punches that left him dazed. The fifth and final round, again, would decide the bout. The final round could have gone either way, but the judges awarded the bout to the winner by split decision, Gary Balletto.
With three bouts having been decided, the blue team has two wins and the gold team has one. Three fierce competitors have been eliminated and three have moved on to the second round. There is one thing you can say, the bouts have been very competitive and exciting to watch. “The Contender”, an unscripted, reality series, is hosted by five time world champion, “Sugar” Ray Leonard. It airs each Tuesday night at 10:00 P.M. ET on ESPN. The championship bout will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA on September 26 and will be broadcast live on ESPN. The winner will take home “The Contender” championship belt and a grand prize of $500,000. Story by Kathleen Holland « Previous article: Silverhawk Entertainment Group, Inc.
