Personal Interviews with Kronk Fighters, Johnathon Banks and Andy Leeposted by Kathleen Holland on March 26, 2007, in The Kronk ConnectionDuring my coverage inside the Klitschko Training Camp in Palma Mallorca, Spain, I thought it would be interesting to ask Undefeated NABO Cruiserweight Champion Johnathon Banks and rising undefeated middleweight star Andy Lee a few personal questions about themselves that I thought boxing fans might informative. Interview with Johnathon Banks MG: What age did you start boxing? JB: 14. MG: What is your first boxing memory? JB: Dreaming of myself boxing. MG: What is your inspiration? JB: My grandfather, Charles Edison. MG: Who is your favorite all time fighter? JB: I don’t have a favorite fighter. MG: In your opinion, what is the best fight you’ve ever seen? JB: Any of Sugar Ray Robinson fights. MG: What is a typical pre-fight meal? JB: After the weigh-in I like steak. I have to have breakfast food and a light lunch. MG: What do you do to relax? JB: TV, movies and silence. MG: Do you have any pre-fight superstitions? JB: No. MG: What training , if any, do you do between fights? JB: Train and help others train in the gym. MG: What is your typical breakfast? JB: Omelet with ham and bacon. MG: What is the toughest part of being a boxer? JB: Responding to criticism and talking to reporters. MG: What is your favorite music? JB: Gospel, Word of Truth Mass Choir. MG: What is a favorite book or magazine you read? JB: None MG: What is your favorite movie? JB: “Coming to America” MG: What kind of car do you drive? JB: Dodge Ram MG Where do you train? JB: Detroit, MI MG: What is your normal training routine? JB: Run and spar on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. MG: What is your toughest opponent you have faced to date? JB: Eliseo Castillo MG: What nutritional supplements do you take? JB: None MG: Do you have a job outside of boxing? JB: No, I’m full time fighter. MG: Last place you went on vacation or holiday? JB: Miami, Florida MG: Who, in your opinion, is the best boxer in the sport today? JB: Johnathon Banks MG: What is your favorite sport outside of boxing? JB: Basketball, and my favorite players are Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan. MG: Thank you Johnathon for your time.
AL: 8 years old. MG: What is your first boxing memory? AL: Watching older brother train at the Repton Boxing Club in London. MG: What is your inspiration? AL: My older brothers, Tommy and Ned. MG: Who is your favorite all time fighter? AL: Roy Jones, Jr. MG: In your opinion, what is the best fight ever seen? AL: Hearns vs Leonard I MG: What is a typical pre-fight meal? AL: Light pasta with light sauce. MG: What do you do to relax? AL: Read and watch movies. MG: Do you have any pre-fight superstitions? AL: No. MG: What training , if any, do you do between fights? AL: I do a light workout, shadow box and working the bags. MG: What is your typical breakfast? AL: Cereal, fruit and poached eggs. MG: What is the toughest part of being a boxer? AL: sacrificing and being away from home and the diet. MG: What is your favorite music? AL: Classic rock, Bob Dylan MG: What is a favorite book or magazine you read? AL: My favorite book is “Moon Fleet Children” and my favorite magazine is “Boxing News”. MG: What is your favorite movie? AL: A Korean movie called “Olde Boy”. MG: What kind of car do you drive? AL: BMW 745LI MG Where do you train? AL: Detroit, MI MG: What is your normal training routine? AL: Monday through Friday we run in the morning, work out at the gym in the afternoon and I take off on Saturday if there is no fight and I rest on Sunday. MG: What is your toughest opponent you have faced to date? AL: Carl Cockerham. MG: What nutritional supplements do you take? AL: Vitamin C with zinc and B Complex. MG: Do you have a job outside of boxing? AL: No, I’m full time boxing now, I used to be a landscape gardener MG: Last place you went on vacation or holiday? AL: Home to Limerick, Ireland. MG: Who, in your opinion, is the best boxer in the sport today? AL: Floyd Mayweather, Jr. MG: What is your favorite sport outside of boxing? AL: Soccer MG: Who is your favorite player? AL: Roy Kean, retired, Manchester United. MG: Andy, thank you for your time.
