Hopkins vs Wright set for July 21

Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins (47-4-1, 32 KOs) is coming out of retirement to take on Ronald “Winky” Wright (51-3-1, 25 KOs) in light heavyweight bout on Saturday, July 21st at the Mandalay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV.

Hopkins moved up in weight class for his last fight and won the IBO Light Heavyweight Title by defeating Antonio Tarver on June 10, 2006 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. He had basically announced his retirement even before the fight that that would be his last bout. But, fortunately for the boxing world, he’s back and feeling great, as he displayed at Saturday’s press conference in Las Vegas. “Your going to get beat up by a 42 year old man, I’m your grandfather, nobody’s going to understand that how can a 42 year old man , without a cain whip your ass? Explained Bernard to Winky “nobody wants to get his ass kicked by a senior citizen”

“I’m gonna beat you, I’m gonna beat you so bad you ain’t never gonna come back” was Winky’s reply. In Wright’s last bout, he won a unanimous 12 round decision over Ike Quartey when they fought at St. Pete’s Time Forum in Tampa, Florida on December 2, 2006.

“Coming to Fight” is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Winky Promotions and is sponsored by Tecate Beer, Southwest Airlines and Rockstar Energy Drink. The fight will be televised live on HBO PPV, the leading supplier of event programming to the pay per view industry, beginning at 9PM ET/6PM PT .

Tickets are on sale at the Mandalay Box Office, or on line at mandalaybay.com or ticketmaster.com and are priced at $850, $650, $450, $250, and $100.
