FRANCISCO “PANCHITO” BOJADO HEADLINES NIGHT OF BOXINGposted by mightygloves.com on July 26, 2007, in Press Release(TUCSON, ARIZONA) – July 26 – On Friday, July 27th, Golden Boy Promotions and Desert Diamond Casino are teaming up once again to present a pugilists showdown that includes a super lightweight main event between Guadalajara’s Francisco “Panchito” Bojado and veteran Rogelio Castaneda Jr. The evening includes six scheduled bouts and a special appearance by boxing great Jesus Chavez. The main event, a 10 round super lightweight affair, pits former Mexican Olympian Francisco “Panchito” Bojado (17-2, 11 KO’s) against the experienced Tijuana transplant, Rogelio Castaneda Jr. (23-12-3, 8 KO’s). Bojado, a Golden Boy Promotions “can’t miss” prospect, is currently on the comeback trail following a split decision loss to highly experienced former World Champion “Jesse” James Leija in what was only Bojado’s 18th professional bout. Castaneda, with nine title fight appearances under his belt, and having faced the likes of Demetrius Hopkins, may have the upper hand against the younger Bojado. The lightweight 10 round co-main event features Jose Armando Santa Cruz (24-2, 13 KO’s) making his debut under the Golden Boy Promotions umbrella against Columbian Dairo Jose Esalas (29-8, 24 KO’s). The undercard includes an 8 round super bantamweight bout featuring El Paso’s Antonio Escalante (14-2, 9 KO’s) takes on Veracruz’s Paulino Villalobos (26-36-2, 16 KO’s). Returning to the Diamond Center is Scotland’s Craig McEwan (4-0, 3 KO’s) and Texas native Valentino Jalomo (2-1-1) in a 6 round middleweight fight. Also in action are Adan Leal (5-0, 5 KO’s) against Carlos de la Cruz (10-7, 4 KO’s) and opening the night is Deferson Legrand (1-0) against Roberto Miramontes (pro debut). Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the opening bell rings at 7:00 p.m. Tickets range from $30 to $100 in advance and are on sale now.
