Gatti–Gomez and Cintron–Matthysse Weights

Arturo Gatti (40-8, 31 KOs) and Alfonso Gomez (16-3-2, 7 KOs) are set to square off Saturday night at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ in a welterweight bout.

The fighters weighed in Friday at Caesar’s Palace with Gatti weighing 146 and Gomez coming in at 147.

Gatti is coming off of a shocking loss to Carlos Baldomir who scored a 9th round TKO over Gatti on July 22, 2006 in Atlantic City and is scheduled to meet Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr, on November 10 in Atlantic City, if both fighters win their interim fight,

Gomez most recently fought Martin Concepcion in the Tournament of Contenders in Newcastle England on March 30 when he won by 7th round TKO.

In the co main event, Kermit “The Killer” Cintron (27-1, 25 KOs) will put his IBF Welterweight title on the line against Walter Matthysse (26-1, 25 KOs,).

Cintron weighed in at 146 and Matthysse came in at 147.

Cintron last fought Mark Suarez on October 28, 2006 in Palm Beach when he scored a 6th round TKO, claiming the vacant IBF Welterweight title.

Matthysse won his last bout on October 20, 2006 when he beat Jorge Dario David Gomez Perez by second round TKO in Chubut, Argentina.

The card is promoted by Main Events in association with “The Contender”, and will be televised live on HBO beginning at 9:00 P.M. ET.
