Marc McCullough will meet Ruairi Dalton in an all Ulster bantamweight final after both boxers recorded semi final victories at the 2007 National U/21 Championships which recommenced at the National Stadium in Dublin this evening.

McCullough produced a skilful display, using a variety of combinations to chalk up a convincing win over Graham Keating and Dalton edged out Danny Coughlin after a tight and cagey 54Kg last four clash.

Conor McGuinness had been hoping to be the third Ulster boxers to make it through to the finals but was behind all the way against Gavin Keating who will go head-to-head with defending champion James Upton in an all Dublin featherweight final next weekend.

Upton survived receiving a public warning for dropping his shoulder in the third to see off a determined Mark Ginley, but Sonny Upton's quest to make it a family and club double ended in disappointment after he was beaten by Stephen Donnelly whose counter punching tactics proved the perfect foil for his opponents constant aggression. The lead changed hands twice in the second round of this contest.

Donnelly will meet John Murray in next Fridays lightweight decider after the Gorey ace obliged Tony Bates to take a standing count in the third before being announced a 24-12 winner.

In the first of the light welter weight semi finals Jamie Kavanagh consistently stepped inside Glenn Smyth's longer reach to rack up points, leaving the Cairn Lodge man with a mountain to climb in the final round after opening up a 10-2 lead at the bell for the end of round three.

In the corresponding bout Adam Nolan went ahead and stayed ahead to carve out a 16-12 win at the expense of Niall McGinley following four hard and competitive rounds.

Christy Boyle recorded his second victory inside 24 hours in the 67Kg category, beating Noel Somers. Boyles victory sets up a 67Kg final Paul Upton, who won the U/21 lightweight title last year.

John Joe Joyce paid the price for incurring the referees wrath in the final round of his contest with Paul Upton. Joyce was ahead in the fourth but a public warning for holding handed the initiative to Upton who won by three points to join his brother James in next Fridays finals.

Michael Collins got the evening off to a high scoring start, beating Andrew Jennings by a margin of 16 points. Collins will now meet defending champion Stephen O'Reilly in the light middleweight final following O'Reillys second round stoppage of Conor Coyle.

The middleweight title will be disputed between Brian Brosnan and Martin Lynch. Brosnan built on a two point lead at the end of the second to win out versus Padraig McCrory, while Ward, won on the first count-back of the Championships against Donal Ward of Galway.

Ward received two public warnings in the third for dropping his head and was forced into a standing count in the fourth.

Hard punching light heavyweight Ciaran McAuley forced Robert Burke into standing counts in the second and third en route to a controlled win.
McAuley will face Michael F Ward in six days time after the Galway man won all four rounds of his clash with Danny Tourish.

Meanwhile, Wards club-mate, Patrick Corcoran, overturned a 2-1 first round deficit to stop Eddie Stokes on the 20 point rule in round three.
Corcoran's win ensured that there will be an all Connaught final next weekend as Galway men John Stokes and Anthony Griffen met in the other semi final.

Stokes won this contest after forcing Griffen-an All Ireland minor football winner with Galway-into standing counts in round and one and two before the
ref stopped the contest.

Heavyweight Con Sheehan guaranteed that Munster will have one representative in the finals with a victory over John Reah. The Tipperary man will
meet Luke Cadden in the 91Kg decider after the Cavan boxer received a bye.

Super heavyweight Martin Stokes also received a bye into the finals where he will face David Joyce, who performed impressively to stop Stephen McMonagle-who took two took two standing counts in the third-in the fourth, in the last bout of this evening.
