World and back-to-back European lightweight champion Katie Taylor cruised into the quarter finals of the 6th European
Women's Championships following an emphatic victory Hrtistina Athanasopoulou in Vejle Denmark this aftenoon.

Taylor, from the St Fergal's club in Bray, stopped the Greek on the 15 point rule in round two and will now meet Spains Mc de la Guia Guerra in the quarter finals tomorrow (October 17th).

The 15 point rule obliges a referee to automatically stop a contest (except in the final round) when a boxer opens up a 15
point advantage.

Taylor, who is targeting an historic three-in-a-row in Denmark, forced Athanasopoulou into a standing count in the first en route to racking up a 10-0 lead at the bell.

The 21 year old then added another five points to her total in the second to get her 60Kg title defence off to a blistering start.

If Taylor beats Mc de la Guia Guerre on Wednesday afternoon then she will be guarenteed at least bronze.
