Irish coach Tony Davitt believes that if the Irish team perform to their full capabilities that they will do well against England in England tomorrow night (November 30th).

The Irish Amateur Boxing Association have named five European gold, silver and bronze medal winners on a 14 strong Ireland squad for the schoolboy international in Copdock, Ipswich tomorrow evening.

Both Michael Reilly (Portlaoise) and Michael McDonagh won gold at the European Schoolboy Championships at Nelsons Landbase in Portsmouth in September, while Joe Ward claimed silver.

George Bates and Daniel O'Brien took home bronze from what was an incredibly successful tournament for Ireland.

According to Davitt, of the Drimnagh Boxing Club, they are travelling to Ipswich with confidence.

He said: "We have named a strong squad for the meeting with England and while we are expecting a tough international I would be confident that we will do well. I know most of the English squad and they have also named a strong panel and it is going to be very competitive.

"However, we are travelling to Ipswich looking for a win and while we expect that most of the bouts will be very tough I don't think we will be beaten."

The Irish squad will depart for England today.
