LAS VEGAS – Joshua Clottey (33-2, 20 KOs) has his eye on the IBF Welterweight Championship now that he is the number one Contender for the title, currently held by Kermit Cintron. Clottey defeated Shamone Alvarez (19-1, 11 KOs) by unanimous decision in this IBF World Welterweight Title Eliminator bout Thursday night at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Clottey controlled the tempo of the fight, but had some trouble keeping his punches above the belt, and even though he was never penalized any points, he was warned several times.

Tye Fields (39-1, 35 KOs) of Las Vegas had the support of the crowd behind him when he defeated Chris Koval, (24-4, 18 KOs) by a devastating knockout at just :43 of the first round. Fields came out with a vengeance and scored two knockdowns almost immediately for which the second was the finishing touch for Koval. Koval, of Youngstown, Ohio was never in the fight.

On the undercard, Super Flyweight, Alex Mercado (3-0, 3 KOs) kept his perfect record when he scored a brutal knockout over Frank Gutierrez (1-2-1, 1 KO) at 2:21 seconds of the second round.

In the first swing bout of the evening, Super Welterweight, Vanes Martroysian (17-0, 12 KOs) remained undefeated when he took Dan Wallace (9-3, 3 KOs) out in the first round. Martroysian was vicious in his assault of Wallace landing several debilitating punches. Wallace hit the canvas at 1:34 of the first round and even though he was able to get up he was in no shape to continue.

In a very entertaining fight, undefeated Donnie Orr (10-0, 4 KOs) scored a unanimous decision over Enrique Gallegos (6-3, 1 KO) in a six round Middleweight bout. Both fighters got off some great shots, but Orr controlled the fight, winning on all score cards.

Bright young prospect, Diego Magdaleno (1-0) made his pro debut in a very exciting four round lightweight bout when he took on and defeated Francisco Palacios (1-2-4, 1 KO) by unanimous decision.

In the final bout of the evening, Geoffery Spruiell (5-5, 1 KO) defeated Angel Flores (9-2, 2 KOs) by unanimous decision in a six round lightweight bout.

The ladies featherweight bout featuring Emily Klinefelter, who was scheduled to make her pro debut, was cancelled due to the huge weight disparity between her and her opponent, Cynthia Kumbala. Klinefelter weighed in at 123 and Kumbala at 137.
