Fight fans for the third straight year voted world welterweight champion Miguel Cotto the 'Fighter of the Year' on Fox Sports Premios. Cotto, who lives and trains in Caguas, Puerto Rico, accepted the award last night in Miami.

"This is a great honor and very special to me as it comes from the fans. It shows that hard work will always be rewarded," said Cotto.

"We are thrilled, as the fans have spoken," said Bob Arum of Top Rank.

In 2007, Cotto defeated Oktay Urkal (TKO 11) in a mandatory defense, Zab Judah (TKO 11) in a riveting battle at Madison Square Garden followed by a win over Sugar Shane Mosley (W 12) at Madison Square Garden.
