Elite Boxing Team Bringing Bad Weather to Heavyweight Boxingposted by Kathleen Holland on February 14, 2008, in Press ReleaseCourtesy of Big Buzz Media While the weather may be calm right now, the heavyweight division is about to rocked by two severe-weather systems.
The collective known as the Elite Boxing Team, manager Ivaylo Gotzev, WBC Interim Heavyweight Champion Samuel "The Nigerian Nightmare" Peter and former WBO King Sergei "White Wolf" Liakhovich say they're coming into their upcoming fights in earth-shaking physical condition.
"Sergei trained in the Balkan Mountains in Bulgaria and we're looking for him to come down like an avalanche and bury the giant," confides Gotzev on Liakhovich's preparations to take on 7-foo-tall former heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev on February 16 at Nuernberg Arena in Nuremberg, Germany. "Sergei couldn't be more confident. He had a great camp and now we're here waiting for fight time."
Gotzev also says that a new head trainer has made a tremendous difference in his fighter. "Tommy Brooks is the right man for the job. Sergei has made the right adjustments. He's in terrific shape and in great spirits."
And then on March 8 in Cancun, Mexico, "Hurricane Sam Peter" is scheduled to finally hit shore and it'll surely spell the end of Oleg Maskaev's reign as WBC Champion. "Look for Hurricane Peter to hit the shores of Cancun Mexico where he'll be wiping Maskaev off the face of the heavyweight map. Nothing will be able to withstand the power Samuel is bringing into his first full-title fight."
Gotzev says his two big heavyweights have both had their best-ever training camps and are ready to do some serious damage on their next opponents. "I'm not a weather man, but I'm predicting an avalanche in Germany and a Hurricane in Cancun in the next month. Take cover. « Previous article: Johnson Wants Hall-of-Fame Career!
