LAS VEGAS - The Brits have invaded Las Vegas in support of their Countryman, Joe Calzaghe who will face Ring Magazine’s Light Heavyweight champ, Bernard “The Executioner”, Hopkins Saturday in the Planet Hollywood Ring at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Hopkins currently holds this championship belt, and is quite sure he will keep it. Calzaghe, on the other hand, has it in his mind to strip Hopkins of the belt and leave him with his rocking chair that he got when he fought Antonio Tarver and the walking cane provided by Team Calzaghe. It looks like someone is trying to tell Bernard that he is “over the hill”.

Well, “over the hill” is a relative term, but it certainly doesn’t describe Hopkins. He is in fantastic shape, both physically and mentally. He is well prepared for the fight, but when it comes to Bernard, he is always well prepared. He stays in shape and would be in good enough shape to take any fight on a minutes notice and have the ability to come out on top.

At 43 years young, Bernard has had a stellar career, setting record after record and intimidating many a great fighters along the way. He retired a couple of years ago, but boxing is in his blood and it was impossible for him to stay out of the ring. He is a legend in his own time.

Calzaghe, who is undefeated in his endeavors is a tough opponent for any top notch fighter. His record speaks for itself and he is not afraid to take on any of the premiere fighters in several different weight classes. He has destroyed fighter after fighter, much to the delight of his fans around the world and plans on proving once and for all that he is the best pound for pound fighter and the best British fighter of all time.

Saturday’s fight promises to be a classic. The fight will be televised live on HBO beginning at 9:45 P.M./6:45 P.M. PT. If you are lucky enough to be in Vegas, there are still a few tickets left. Ticket prices are $1500, $1200, $450, $350, and $250 and can be purchased at the Planet Hollywood Box Office.
