After threatening my pal, Bobby Gunn ( Former IBA World Cruiserweight Champ and Light Heavyweight challenger) with a few of my wicked and deadly uppercuts for being MIA during his last fight in Phoenix, Arizona we got down to the business at hand. Which was this interview to find out what has been going on with him since his fight with Phelps. Previously I have asked Bobby hard and revealing questions because I know he will answer them with honesty and heart.

I was anxious to hear his explanation of the fight with Phelps, about his eye injury and where he would be going from here. His answers were direct as always and he didn't try to make excuses for anything that had happened in this past contest. His dream of a title shot is still going full steam ahead as well. I admire his perseverance in the sport of gloved fists.

Bobby occasionally will talk of other boxers as having "the total package" what he doesn't seem to realize is the he also is a " total package" with his boxing talent, charming personality, big heart, good looks, and spiritual essence that make up this great guy. His humility is what has endeared him to this writer and will win him many new fans I'm sure. I strongly urge you to take the time to get to know all sides of Bobby Gunn. He is one boxer who is definitely packing heat and desire to make his dreams come true.

Let's talk to Bobby Gunn:

BD Glad to speak to you again Bobby. Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for MG.
BG How are you my friend?
BD Good. I have alot of questions for you.
BG No problem at all

BD What is your reaction to this last fight?
BG I feel I won it. I'm a little aggravated. I believe I should have gotten the decision.

BD There is a big question of the head butt in round one. Would you say that a head butt did occur that caused your eye injury?
BG Yes. I'm no choir boy. I'm a rough guy myself in the ring so I know better what happened.

BD Are you training now?
BG Yes, I'm up in the Pocono's training with a guy named "Terrific" Everything is going well and my sights are set on the future.

BD You seem to have made a career out of training?
BG All I do is work and train. I am always prepared for a fight.

BD How is your eye?
BG The eye is healed up and I'm ready to go. I took out my own stitches and there will probably be a scar.

BD So are you telling me that you won't be pretty anymore?
BG (laughs) I guess not. But the scar gives me character.
( I saw a picture of Bobby after his eye was healed and he still looks cute as ever.)

BD What are your future fight plans?
BG I'm gunning for a title shot in the summer some time.

BD Anything you'd like to clear up about the fight with Phelps?
BG The fight should have been stopped but it wasn't so I feel I should have gotten the decision
because even with the injury I went the distance.

BD Any thoughts on retiring?
BG I'm only 34. Maybe 2-3 years from now.

BD It has been reported that Phelps will be getting a shot at a title, any comment?
BG The draw helped him. I wish him luck but I'll take the belt off him when and if he wins.

BD There has been some harsh talk concerning you by the critics of boxing. Comment?
BG All I have to say is that the critics have never gotten a punch in the liver, they have never taken a shot to the head that rattles their brain, and they have never gotten a punch in the mouth. When they do that, then they can talk.

BD What would be a good fight for you?
BG Byrd

BD Are you still in search of a World Title shot?
BG Absolutely. I am thankful to God for my career and to be where I am now and to win a World Title would complete me.

BD It was very stressful for me to watch your fight. I was screaming at the video and trying to play trainer but I guess a boxer is the master of his own fate in that ring.
BG It was stressful for me also, the fight that is.

BD Speaking of training (laughs) I have a bet for you.
BG Really?
BD Yes. I would like to try my hand at training you for a week. I want to give you a schedule to follow and all you need to do is tell me how it went after a week ok?
BG Sure
BD Good answer.

BD Who would you like to fight next?
BG Glen Johnson. Styles makes fights. It would be two bulls colliding.

BD You seem to be in a very good mood coming off this fight?
BG I'm moving on and have to concentrate on my next challenge. I feel this is my year. When things are right they are right. This year feels right for me.

BD It has been said by my various friends in boxing that I favor you. Any comment?
BG I don't think so. We're a team.

BD I admire your work ethic very much. You are always training. Always preparing for a fight. You do not sit around and whine about the past you move on like a real professional.
BG Thank you. You're a hard worker too. Putting these articles together and following my train of thought from subject to subject. You go 12 rounds with me every time we do an interview.
BD Who wins?
BG You of course. ( We both laugh)

BD Anything you would like to say in closing?
BG I want to thank my promoters, my team:Kyle White-who will be making his pro boxing debut soon. George Kokkalenios, Mike Hopper, Chuck Mc Gregor, David Baggs, Matt Yanofski, You-Diva of Boxing, Mightygloves for their contiuned support and of course my family, friends and fans.
