Chris Byrd Moves to Light Heavyweight

Two time Heavyweight champion, Chris Byrd will take on Shaun George Friday in the Planet Hollywood Ring at Cox Pavillion in Las Vegas. The bout will be televised live on ESPN Friday Night Fights on May 16.

Byrd, (40-4-1, 21 KO’s) who 37 years old is moving down to Light Heavyweight and is in top form and looking forward to fighting at his new weight and is hoping to get a shot at fighting Roy Jones, Jr. in the near future.

The younger George (16-2-2, 7 KOs) is 29 and is hoping to score an upset after his move down from Cruiserweight.

The card is promoted by Banner Promotions in association with Planet Hollywood and Cox Pavillion at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Tickets are on sale at unlvtickets.com or can be purchased at the UNLV box office. Doors open at 4:00 P.M. with the first bout beginning at 5:00 P.M. PT.
