Oscar De La Hoya defeated Steve Forbes by unanimous decision Saturday at the Home Depot Center in Carson City, California.

De La Hoya controlled the fight throughout, even though Forbes was able to get in some good shots. Forbes seemed to focus mostly on defense and lacked the offense and strength needed to win the fight. De La Hoya was unable to score the knockout that his team was hoping for.

De La Hoya is trained by veteran trainer, Floyd Mayweather, Sr. and Steve by Jeff Mayweather, Floyd, Sr.’s younger brother.

The fight was touted as a tune up fight for De La Hoya’s upcoming bout against undefeated Floyd Mayweather, Jr. which is scheduled to take place in September. De La
Hoya lost to Floyd, Jr. on May 5, 2007 by split decision. De La Hoya is adamant that he won the first fight, even though two of the judges saw it for Mayweather.
