Shaun George Shocks Chris Byrd

LAS VEGAS –Shaun George scored a shocking TKO over former two time heavyweight champion, Chris Byrd who made his light heavyweight debut in the Main Event of ESPN’s Friday Night Fights.

George took control of the fight from the first bell, scoring a knockdown in the first round and catching Byrd with some pretty tough body shots. George landed many shots that seem to hurt Byrd. Byrd was never in the fight. The end came at 2:45 of the ninth round when George landed a devastating right from which Byrd never recovered.

Ruslan Provodnikov (8-0, 6 KOs) scored a unanimous decision over Brian Gordon (4-1, 4 KOs) in a 6 round Junior Welterweight bout. The fight didn’t lack excitement, but Gordon took a lot of body shots and missed quite a few shots which seemed to take a toll on Gordon. Photo Gallery to follow.

In an action packed bout, Ji-Hoon Kim (14-5, 11 KOs) defeated Koba Gogoladze (20-3, 8 KOs) by TKO at 2:27 of the first round. Gogoladze seemed to take control early in the round, but Kim ended the bout with a left hook that followed a knockdown.
