Joshua Clottey (35-2, 21 KOs) defeated Zab Judah (35-6, 25 KOs) by unanimous decision to become the new IBF Welterweight champion after the doctor at ringside stopped the fight due to a cut over Zab’s right eye which appeared to be from a right thrown by Clottey. Clottey was ahead on all score cards at the time of the stoppage.

The bout was action packed, and Clottey fought an aggressive fight. Clottey indicated that he was hit with a low blow in the fourth round, but referee, Robert Byrd did not respond and it seemed to anger Clottey. Clottey came back with some fierce punches which rocked Judah. Judah ended the fifth round with a flurry of punches, but they didn’t seem to do much damage to Clottey. Clottey again was hit with a low blow in the sixth round and Judah hit him with a number of good blows and combinations at the close of the round.

The seventh round belonged to Clottey who stung Judah with numerous blows. Zab suffered a cut over his right eye from a right thrown by Clottey in the ninth and the doctor called a halt to the bout after Judah told the doctor that he couldn’t see. Clottey was said to have offered Judah a rematch after the fight, but a possible matchup with Margarito is on the horizon. Clottey said he would give up his belt if necessary to fight Margarito.

The card was promoted by Top Rank in association with the Palms Casino and was televised live on HBO’s Boxing After Dark.

The co-main event featured Anthony Peterson (28-0, 19 KOs) meeting a very experience fighter in Javier Jauregui (53-15-2, 36 KOs), but Peterson was too much for him and won the ten round Lightweight bout by unanimous decision. Peterson remains undefeated.

Joseph Judah (3-0), younger brother of Zab Judah, held on to his undefeated record when he scored a unanimous decision over Javier Sanchez (1-2) in a four round Super Welterweight bout.

Omar Chavez (11-0-1, 9 KOs) scored a TKO over Jeremy Marts (4-3, 3 KOs) at 2:44 of the first round after sending Marts to the canvas 3 times in a lopsided Super Lightweight battle. The bout had been scheduled for four rounds. Chavez is the son of legendary fighter, Julio Cesar Chavez.

Miguel “Angel” Garcia (13-0, 11 KO’s) dominated an eight round featherweight bout and scored a TKO over Jose Hernandez (11-7-1, 5 KOs). Garcia sent Hernandez to the canvas in the second round. Referee, Tony Weeks called a halt to the bout at 0:24 of the eighth round. All three judges gave all rounds to Garcia except the 7th round prior to the stoppage.

Undefeated Super Featherweight, Diego Magdaleno (5-0, 2 KOs) scored a unanimous decision over Scott Furney (3-5-1, 1 KO) in a six round bout. Furney suffered a cut over his right eye in the second round by accidental head butt. Magdaleno won every round on each of the judge’s scorecards. Please check back for the exciting photo gallery!
