MMA Real Talk
What can be said about Ken Shamrock ( 26-13-2) that hasn't already been stated in black and white? Most people in the world of MMA have their own opinions of the 44 year old Hall Of Fame legend. Some admire him as 'The Most Dangerous Man In The World.' while others feel it's time for him to hang up the gloves, errantly. Who is right and who is wrong will most likely be decided on CBS ELITEXC Saturday Night Fights, Oct.4th when Ken faces off with Kimbo Slice.

Having the honor to speak with Ken Shamrock one of the pioneers of the sport and who will forever be a part of it's history before this momentous fight gave me a complete and better understanding of the man inside the persona. I was apprehensive about what side of the bed Ken would wake up on the day I phoned him. Would he be in a good mood willing to share his thoughts and feelings or would he be introspective and agitated? Luckily for me Ken was gracious, incisive and very sweet.( Shhh don't tell anyone I said that out loud.)
We talked over numerous topics dealing with MMA but what struck me as absolutely genuine was Ken's desire to make up for his less than stellar past performances. He admits he wasn't at his best and now with this fight against Kimbo he has a chance to prove himself once and for all to his fans, his critics and most of all to himself.
Ken is very serious about setting the record straight on his ability to fight in MMA. He is not washed up. He is not showboating for attention. He isn't claiming to be superman. He is a fighter and because of that he fights. he loves what he does, he loves the competition and he will keep on keeping on until he alone decides it is time for him to hang up the gloves.
Ken Shamrock, one of the first true pioneers of MMA is a remarkable athlete and within that well-conditioned muscular body beats the heart of a lion which he surprisingly wears upon his sleeve. Here is what Ken had to say:
