The International Boxing Federation (IBF) cruiserweight title is up for grabs Friday night as IBF Cruiserweight World Champion, Tomasz Adamek (36-1, 24 KOs) put's his title belt on the line against undefeated, IBF #8th Ranked Johnathon Banks (20-0, 14KO's) in a 12 round championship bout. This will be Adamek's first title defense and he is very confident going into the fight. For Banks this will be his first attempt at a world title, and he as well alludes an air of confidence going into this fight. Of course having the legendary trainer Emanuel Steward in his corner would give any fighter an extra bit of confidence. Banks, according to Steward, is a regular sparring partner for heavyweight champion Vladimir Klicthko and in being so has picked up a few moves from the champ, including a much improved left jab and has shown considerable improvement with fighting on the inside. He will need it against the aggressive-minded Adamek, who will be looking to make this a fight in close. Adamek has shown considerable improvement in his technical boxing ability which he displayed against former IBF world champion Steve Cunningham whom he defeated to win the IBF title a short time ago.

This has the making's of a compelling world championship bout, on one hand you have a crowd pleasing fighter in Adamek, who brings a rough and tough in your "Grill" style of aggressive pressure boxing, with good power in both hands especially his right hand. Adamek being a fighter who is non-stop, will want to make this a war on the inside The hard-hitting Banks, carrying the "Kronk" gym aura along with being accompanied by his manager and legendary trainer, Emanuel Stewart, will have no problem with engaging Adamek on the inside and should provide a stern challenge for him. Banks is considered a better puncher then Adamek's last opponent, Steve Cunningham, and will be looking to setup one of his best punches, his powerful right hand.

Keys to success for Adamek, use your improved boxing ability to score and get inside with Banks, he needs to keep his left hand up, use angles and more importantly utilize faints because Banks does a nice job rolling his shoulder and countering over his opponents left jab.

Keys to success for Banks, keep the fight on the outside, Adamek is a pressure fighter keep a stiff jab in his face, double it and follow with the right hand because Adamek does get comfortable and he will let his left hand ride low sometimes. Also rolling off his jab and countering with the overhand right, Steve Cunningham landed that punch all night on Adamek during there last fight.
