Two "Knockout Artists'' will clash on March 7th at the HP Pavilion, San Jose California. That night, the continuing journey of two " Very Good" 154lb fighters in James Kirkland (24 - 0 - 21KO's) and Joel Julio (34 - 2 - 31KO's) will cross path's. Both have crushing knockout power and both are willing to test the others resolve in the ring. This contest should position the winner for a shot at a world title. But make no mistake, for these two fighters as with most, pride is on the line, to be recognized as one of the best fighters in the junior middleweight division is what drives them.

Few professions have the ability to bring together various cultures, races and ethnic backgrounds as does the the "Sport" and "Art" of Boxing. That tradition will continue when these two fighters meet in the ring on saturday night, brought together from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds but having a common thread, "Prize Fighting". Joel Julio born in Monteria, Colombia, a country with a tradition of producing hard hitting, "knockout artists". But many of whom are "Exposed" when they come to fight in the USA against stiffer competition. The result's being decision wins verses knockout wins or disappointing losses. Joel Julio though is one of the exceptions, he has knocked out 31 of 36 opponents most of which were from here in the US, and he has good boxing skills to go along with the power he has in both hands especially the right. He should prove to be a formidable opponent for the Austin, Texas born, James Kirkland who too has good power in both hands and being trained by former two (2) time world women's boxing champion, Anne Wolfe has solid boxing skill's to match.

This should be a great fight, one that has the constant possibility of ending in dramatic fashion if either gets reckless or losses focus. Julio's only two losses are to southpaw's, so Kirkland may have a slight mental advantage over Julio coming into the fight. But kirkland showed some minor flaws in his last outing against "The Contender" (season - 3)'s Brian Vera (16 - 2 10KO's). Though never really hurt by Vera, (who in my opinion is the true "Drunken Master" style boxer), Kirkland did get caught with a number of hard right hands by him that he should have been able to avoid. That is the one punch if landed "Clean" by Julio could make it a early night. With that said, Kirkland is that guy, the one with the attitude, "I'm taking the fight to your door step",, maybe into your living room, he comes to "Fight". He's a pressure fighter and he's going to be in Julio's "Grill" from the opening bell. So boxing fans be prepared,,,
