Once again, I delved into the private feelings of the Boxing Diva. I've
challenged her thoughts on some topics never asked of her before.

JA What initially interested you in the world of Boxing?
BD It was an offshoot of my father's interest; actually my grandmother's
brother did some boxing.. She watched many of his bouts in the 20s
. and 30s.Can you picture her, a little 4'11'', 90 lb.lady? So, you can
say I'm a 3rd generation boxing fan.

JA What excites you about the sport? W hen did you become a writer
of the sport?
BD I enjoy the one on one battle of wills. It'll be 2 years in June, that I've been writing for
Mightygloves before that I had been writing a fictional boxing story.

JA Do you think there is something unique about the boxing world?
BD It's the unpredictability of the sport as they say anything can happen in a fight. The
boxers have such diverse personalities, one they show in the ring and then another
when I speak to them over the phone.

JA How can you enjoy so brutal a sport?
BD It's not brutal every fight. I see boxing as the manly art of self defense.

JA I' ve watched boxing matches for years; I can still see Ali's dancing
feet. Which is more important a toned pair of legs or the arms?
BD Definitely strong legs. The foundation for boxing has always been the legs. If the legs
go - it doesn't matter the arm strength.

JA Seriously now, many athletes I've read say before they get out there
they "see" themselves doing the athletic feat and then winning. Do
you believe in this concept, could it work in boxing?
BD Visualization is important in all kinds of training. But in boxing
you're facing only one other opponent it is important to focus only on him.
That is the reality and the unpredictableness of it.

JA What is your opinion on women's boxing?
BD Women should be able to box if they want . I will support them. In all honesty I have a hard time watching their fights but that doesn't mean they shouldn't box..

JA I'm drawn to the black 'n' white TV matches that are sometimes
shown on the sports channel. What do you feel is the reason for
the longer, baggier boxing shorts of today? I feel the old style
showed off the athletic body more. Do you agee? How come they
changed? P.S. As for women, it looks like the skimpier the better -
true?
BD It seems that way, women's boxing outfits appear to be skimpier
but I think the main reason isn't for sexual appeal but to show off their physigues.
I've seen Ali's short trunks; but I believe comfort is the reason for
today's longer boxing trunks.

JA Do you believe boxing is a metaphor for life?
BD This is not my philosophy. Some people compare boxing to the
working class struggle but to me boxing is just that boxing.

JA On a personal note, you have a cat named Max,tell us the age,
breed and why not a dog?
BD Max is about 11,he's a Mainecoon. Cats are more independent,
and intelligent, but finicky. We've had dogs, but the last 2 pets
were cats. By the way, Max has a powerful right hook, when he
plays with his toy mouse. He reminds me of Jack Dempsey.

JA Thanks once again,Boxing Diva for some thought-provoking responses. I
I really learned some new things about you. And, being new at the "game"
some of these thoughts were on my mind and you helped settle some ideas
I never knew.
BD Thank you for giving me the chance to state why I love boxing.
PS To me boxing isn't a game but that's a whole new article. LOL
