Ashanti Jordan is an exciting heavyweight from San Francisco, California who turned pro in March of 2007 after compiling an amateur record of 36-6 and attaining a ranking of number two among heavyweight amateurs nationwide while also competing in the National Golden Gloves tournament.
In 2006, Jordan was rated as the #2 Amateur Heavyweight in the United States as designated by USA Boxing. He was also a S.F. Golden Gloves Heavyweight Open Champion from 2004-2006, a California State Golden Glove Champion, a Regional Golden Glove Champion and a Bronze medalist in the National Golden Gloves Championship in 2005 and 2006.

Ashanti, first tell me a little about yourself and what got you attracted to boxing?
It's hard for some people to believe I box because how nice and soft spoken I am. I always watch boxing and my grandfather Sam Jordan boxed so I always had an interest.

Who would you like to fight next in the heavyweight division?
Anyone in the top 20 right now get a little more experience in before making the big step.
Who were your inspirations in the sport of boxing and what is the motivation behind your career?
Just boxing itself it keep me out of trouble and gave me something else to do with my time.

Let's talk about your last fight. What is your reaction to it?
I enjoyed it. I fought in front of family and friends. It was a good motivator for me to win even more.

Did your last fight against Willie Perryman go as you had expected?
Hard to say I don't go in to knock people out it just seem to happen I was taught not to go for knockouts they will happen. But I expected to win the fight.

What did you learn from the last couple of fights you have had?
That I can get better make less mistakes.

Any plans about your next fight? When do you expect your next fight to be and who would you like to fight next in the heavyweight division?
My next fight is May 8 in Texas. Anyone in the top 20 ranking world wide

What is your best punch?
I would say my jab when in use.

How is training going?
Good

You are always in excellent shape. What does your training look like?
Lot of cardio and running. I stay close to the weight I like to fight at always.

When you are in between fights do you stay in the gym or do you only train during training camp prior to an upcoming bout?
Always stay in the gym to stay in shape just train harder for a fight.

What is your favorite part of training and why? (Sparing, shadow boxing, pad work, conditioning...)
Sparing it's the best part you can see how many rounds u can go plus see we're you are at and if you are ready.
For those who have not seen you fight yet, can you describe your boxing style?
Just a well-rounded boxer with power in both hands.

You singed up with Golden Boy Promotion, what can we expect from you near the future?
An American heavyweight champion to be.

Regarding nutrition, do you have a strict nutritional regimen or do you pretty much eat whatever you want?
I like to eat turkey and chicken and pasta.

Who were your inspirations in the sport of boxing?
Just someone who likes boxing.

Do you think the world of boxing has grown, changed or decreased now that there's MMA?
I think it has grown people are getting to see great fights goods fighter are fighting eachother so its grown to me.

What can we all do to keep boxing strong?
Support it, watch it, talk about it.

What is the secret to your success, what or who do you credit your success to?
God gets all the credit keep me healthy so far and long as I stay right I will be alright with my life.

What are your short and long term goals?
Just be the best I can at whatever I'm doing in life right now and always have something to fall back on in the future.

What do you do in your free time to relax or for fun?
Chill with my two girls Amara and Madison.

Do you have anything you would like to tell boxing fans?
Support me and keep an eye out for me.
